France alongside with Italy is regarded as one of the most attractive European countries. Each year over
5 millions of tourist visit The Republic. France tries to represent itself in the world. Their cuisine,
wines and Eiffel Tower are widely known and recognized around the world.
MOUNT BLANC - white mountain
Mount Blanc - the highest mountain on the continent (4807 m AMSL) towers over the boarders
of France and Italy. The first climbers to reach the summit were Jacques Balmat and Michel Gabriel
Paccard on August 8 1786. The first Pole on the "roof of Europe" was romantic poet Antoni Malczewski,
who climbed to the top on August 4 1818. With conductive weather conditions it is quite easy to
size the mountain by taking one of the numerous easily accessible trails. Unfortunately the weather
here changes constantly and that makes Mont Blanc a dangerous challenge even for skilled and experienced
alpinists. Every year the summit takes lives of more people than Mount Everest.
Scheduled program
Katowice - Valle di Aosta- Gran Paradiso (4061 m AMSL)- Chamonix - Mount Blanc (4807 m AMSL)
We start our journey in the valley of Aosta from where we set off to the city of Pont and we
reach the Grand Paradiso mountain refuge in the evening. Next morning sees us as we continue
our way up to the peak. The way here is not hard although it requires using a climbing iron
on the frozen ground. The last distance of the summit can cause a little trouble so we will
have to secure ourselves with the ropes (there are permanent secure points and a hand-rail).
This will be an excellent warm up before storming Mont Blanc. The same day we go down and head
to Chamonix. We can spend the next day shopping in the city center or planning our escapades in the
mountains. We start climbing by taking a famous trail through Gouter rigde. We arrive at Les Houches
from where we take a gondola ride to TMB station (Tour de Mont Blanc station) only to switch the
gondola to Nid d`Aigle (2363 m. AMSL). This is the last stop and from there we can only proceed on
foot. We pass Tere Rouse refuge (3150 m AMSL) and the area around it known as a lobby to reach to
Gouter refuge (3817 m AMSL). If to this point the group hasn't run out of enthusiasm we can attack
the Mont Blank itself. We will do it through Dôme du Gouter (4304 m. AMSL), Vallot refuge (4363 m.
AMSL) and Bossones ridge. We return the same road. Please note that is impossible to schedule this
trip day after day. Our top priority is safety of our participants and we try to meet the needs of
each individual. Our trip depends as well on weather conditions. If we are lucky to complete this
escapade before time we will spend the remaining days sightseeing the area of Chamonix or one of the
towns on the way to Poland.
